Jane was deeply fearful.
Liv was stressed to the point of not knowing what she in fact knew.
Peter was bitterly disappointed in himself.
These students’ experiences with difficult school subjects or tests reveal the baggage that most of us carry through life.
Our feelings can impose a triple tax on our lives:
All the while, we actually have an extraordinary learning opportunity available to us.
I express this incredible opportunity as being able to CHOOSE HOW YOU WANT TO FEEL.
The habit involves learning how to do two things:
The habit is not about denying feelings; it’s about learning how to work with them.
And, like any skill, it need not be difficult. It comes with practice.
Without this habit, we perform according to how we happen to feel on any given day. But WITH this habit, we choose the emotion we bring to the games of our lives.
We find that we play better and enjoy the games more, and over time, we become the confident creators of our own lives.
